Data Recovery Disclaimer
Last updated: September 2026
Data recovery outcomes depend on the condition of the individual device and cannot be guaranteed in advance. DiskAnalyst’s data recovery service is intended to retrieve the customer’s data — it is not a drive repair service, and a device submitted for recovery should not be expected to return to dependable long-term service afterward.
Recovery Cannot Be Guaranteed
No data recovery provider can guarantee recovery in advance of diagnosis. Whether — and how much — data can be recovered depends on the specific condition of your device.
What Affects Whether Data Can Be Recovered
- The physical condition of the storage media
- Whether the data has been overwritten since loss
- The extent of any physical damage
- Firmware damage or corruption
- The condition of the NAND and controller, on SSDs and flash-based media
- The condition of the individual member drives, on RAID arrays
- Any recovery attempts already made before the device reached us
Actions That Can Reduce Recoverability
- Repeatedly powering on or testing an unstable or failing device
- Opening a hard drive outside a suitable, controlled environment
- On SSDs, TRIM can make previously deleted data unrecoverable
- Initializing storage or forcing a RAID rebuild before the array has been assessed
The Original Device
The original media may not be usable for continued everyday service after the recovery process, even where recovery is successful. See our Terms of Service for more on this.
Recovered Data
Recovered files may in some cases contain corruption or gaps, particularly where the source media was itself damaged. Where diagnosis shows that recovery isn’t practical or possible for a given device, we’ll tell you before any recovery work proceeds.
